Elmer Su has led the Palos Verdes Regional Symphony Orchestra since 2008.
His private teaching studio on the Palos Verdes Peninsula follows the same standard he brings to the podium: solid fundamentals first, then real performance experience as soon as a student is ready for it.
He trained at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, graduating at the top of his class, before holding concertmaster positions with orchestras in both China and the United States.
The studio also collaborates with the european based Experience Klassiek Academy, extending select students' performance and coaching opportunities beyond the United States.
Repertoire is chosen to match each student's actual playing level, not a fixed year-by-year syllabus.
Students perform in front of real audiences as soon as they're ready, not just in the practice room.
For students aiming at conservatory or university auditions, lessons include repertoire planning and preparation.
Lessons are structured around the same technical and audition benchmarks used by conservatory and university-level music programs, with performance opportunities built in as students are ready for them.
